Creative Families is a series of artist-led projects that explore parenting and wellbeing, delivered as a partnership between South London Gallery and Southwark’s Parental Mental Health Team. 

As the artist delivering the project in 2026, I have been working with mums (and sometimes their toddlers) to explore sound, photography and filmmaking practices. We've made pinhole cameras, set up a darkroom in the storage cupboard, taken photos and made analogue films with vintage wind-up cameras and hand processed our films in DIY chemistry mixtures. We've also drawn directly onto film stock and projected these 'direct animations' into our workshop space. 

New art experiments are emerging week by week as we continue to work together until April.
